Level 5 leaders channel their ego needs away from themselves and into the larger goal of building a great company. It's not that Level 5 leaders have no ego or self-interest. Indeed, they are incredibly ambitious -- but their ambition is first and foremost for the institution, not themselves.

I'm Back Blogging

I apologize for the quarter-year hiatus and appreciate your emails and comments in the meantime.

What have I been doing?

Well, I left the consulting world, played a lot of music, moved a new girlfriend from Albuquerque to Denver, and began working with an entirely new Web Programming Language, ASP.NET.

The New Job:  Working for a technology provider for three of the ten largest credit unions in the US.  Basically, I am developing online banking tools. More specifically, I work on a team that is developing a completely integrated and automated auto loan processing and funding system for credit unions.  In Colorado, our market, car dealers can use our website to apply-for and fund loans through almost any Colorado credit union.  The job is very challenging!

Music:  I'm still playing 50's rock-n-roll, although my original band has re-formed playing "alternative country" music -- a pleasantly vague term.  I also bought a vintage electric bass, a mid 60's Vox Cougar (similar to the one in the pictures here.

The Girlfriend:  Holly.  I have known her for a couple of years through a mutual friend.  I got to know her a little more in January when my band traveled through Albuquerque while on tour.  After that, we started chatting via MySpace, and met up in Las Vegas in March for a big Rockabilly music festival.  We hit it off in Vegas, and one month later she moved to Denver.  It's going well so far.

I'm also starting an ASP.NET blog here
